I have been creating art as soon as I knew how to hold a crayon, and later to draw and paint. As I got older, this love never faded and eventually I went to college to study art, earning my BFA at Abilene Christian University.
After holding various art and graphic design positions including art director, I eventually began teaching, becoming certified to teach art and other subject areas.
I have shown in galleries (such as the Blue Star) and on the web. I have curated art shows and became a V.A.S.E. judge.
I am a proud member of TAEA (Texas Art Educators Association) and was named art educator of the year in 2016.
I create art using many different traditional and non-traditional mediums, including using multimedia and digital art.
While most of my ideas are brought to life with traditional media, I also believe that working with a non-traditional materials approach can result in truly amazing creations. As the thought process evolves into the physical, each idea manifests in its own individual style-in part dictated by the materials used.
I encourage my students to explore what different types of media/materials will allow them to express their message in their two and three-dimensional works. Most importantly, I help them to enjoy the creative process which they are part of.
I am inspired by unique details and qualities of life which come in many forms. My intent as an artist and teacher, is to encourage, educate and inspire, promote awareness, and elicit positive responses to the world around us, by presenting subject matter in a unique way that is relatable.
I love creating artwork, and teaching others to be able to do the same. I am constantly being inspired by my students as I see through their eyes. My sincerest dream is to equip students to independently create-and to always remember that they are, in fact, the greatest works of art ever created.
